Liv Tyler opts for LBD

They're a wardrobe staple for millions of women around the globe, so when Liv Tyler was invited to a film screening in New York at the weekend, she turned to her trusty little black dress.

The dark party dress looked gorgeous on the model and actress with its ruffled hem and plunging neckline drawing attention to her toned arms and legs. The number also featured a black belt with zip detail to cinch her in around the waist.

Liv didn't need to don towering high heel pumps for the showing of her new film Robot and Frank, deciding to opt for strappy sandals that matched the colour of her dress.

She accessorised the stand-out number with a quilted black handbag with a gold chain.

Liv wasn't the only A-lister with LBDs on her mind this weekend, as Katy Perry also chose to go gothic in black when she flew from LA to Brazil for the latest leg of her Part of Me: 3D film tour.

Slipping into a long lace skirt and fitted top, the singer toughened up the look with some stompy black boots and a matching wide-brimmed hat, adding a splash of colour to her outfit through a couple of long gold chains around her neck.
