How to get next season's trends now!
Hey guys and dolls! What a week it's been - beautiful sunshine followed by torrential rain and then blue skies again. I reckon everyone who's come over to the UK for the Olympics has well and truly experienced the traditional British summer!
But it hasn't been all dodging puddles and getting sunburnt on the same day here at My1stWish. Oh no. Because we've been starting to look at what we're going to be wearing come the autumn.
Over the sound of my readers spluttering their tea at the computer screen, I will attempt to explain. Us fashion peeps operate a good six months ahead of the rest of you, which is why it's normal to see celebs dressed in next season's (and sometimes even next year's) fashion trends.
Take Emma Stone, the gorgeous actress who's fast becoming a bit of a style icon. At a premiere for The Amazing Spider-Man, she stepped out in a beautiful plum and teal coloured gown from Roksanda Ilincic's A/W 2012 collection.
So what are the hottest trends for next season? If we're going by what was all over the catwalks, it's all about the maximalism. That means lots of bling, embellishment and sparkly bits on your high heel pumps, clothes and evening clutch bags. Look at what Dolce & Gabbana brought to the table: plenty of sumptuous golds, exquisite black lace and huge costume jewellery.
Gucci, Prada and Christopher Kane also spilt a palette of purples onto their runways, with party dresses and skirts scoping the colour spectrum from the palest shade of lilac all the way to the deepest, darkest violet.
So to get next season's look now, start with baby steps and opt for shimmering accessories you can add to any summer outfit. I love these hematite effect purple bead earrings and this amazing gold effect cameo brooch, which I'm planning to wear in my hair a la Oscar de la Renta!
Hugs and air kisses,
